A new sport

Last Saturday was the first of many races that I'm sure we will be a part of. Corbin has ran a ton but has never been in a race before, believe it or not. Our neighbor told us of a race last Saturday so Corbin took advantage of the information and ran. He decided to do the 5k to start out with. Corbin asked Jaden if he wanted to join in the fun and so he did the kids marathon (.5 mile). Soon the whole family will be racing!

Corbin's race was first and he did a great job! He was going super fast at first because of all the excitement. He placed 7th overall in the mens. When we went to check on his time we couldn't find his name. We were so confused until we realized that he had been placed in the women's section. Ha!

Jaden's race was really short and sweet. He was so super excited to be in his first race. With how competitive Jaden is, this race was a perfect place to start his running career. I think this is going to be the sport that Jaden is good at. Before they started the race they told the kids to follow the adult leading the race. As soon as they said "Go!", Jaden sprinted as fast as he could. He didn't care about the "slow" adult leading the race. He just wanted to win! Jaden led the way the whole time until the very end when another kid almost caught up to him. About 50 feet from the finish line Corbin had to shout to Jaden to go fast because there was someone right behind him. Luckily Jaden sped up and won first place! I was so proud of him! He is such a determined little kid and does so good at things when he puts his mind to it.

The girls had a fun time playing with our neighbors during the race and then after they got to meet a couple of the Chick-fil-A cows. With how happy Claire was to meet this cow, you would think we were in Disneyland. I guess in a few weeks we will see how happy she gets in the real Disneyland!
