End of the year and a few tidbits

The end of June was super busy with end of the year programs and school projects.  I get so burned out by the time the end of the school year comes around.  Projects, tests, singing performances, etc....  I do love watching their programs but the projects are draining!

Here is Maelyn at her program (the blonde sitting right next to Maelyn is her good friend Abby)

During the fourth grade year Maelyn has had a ton of big projects.  Every month she had a new book report due.  These book reports were intense projects.  She also had a power point presentation on a Utah county.  That was a ton of fun (insert sarcasm here).  Her last book report was a wax museum.  She had to read a biography and then dress up like the person she read about.  She chose Hellen Keller and did a wonderful job at it.  She looked great and did her best at talking in a super loud classroom (all the kids were talking at the same time).  A few days later we had pet day at school.  It was 100 degrees so poor Oreo was HOT!

Claire had her program the same day as Maelyn's pet day so it was a super busy school day.  It was fun to watch Claire singing.  She is so animated which makes it fun to watch her.  She even got a speaking part and did great with it!

Here is Claire's teacher, Mrs. Mueller.  She was a super fantastic teacher!  Claire already misses her!

Here are a few random things:

In June, Claire was out of school for testing so we got to spend time at stores.  One time we went to Hobby and she had to bring her baby and her purse.  She also put on jewelry and makeup.  When we got to the store she put the baby in the cart and pushed the baby around.  She turned to me in the store and exclaimed "I feel like a mom!".  It was so cute that I had to take a picture.

At the end of June, Jaden went on his first ever backpacking camping trip.  They hiked up to the Timpanogos peak to prepare for their August hike to King's peak (which is the highest peak in Utah).  Jaden brought his good friend Mason along which helped Jaden to be more excited for this adventure.  I knew this would be a hard challenge for Jaden because he is a small kid and carrying a big pack like that would be heavy.  Also, Jaden is not the biggest outdoor enthusiast.  As soon as he got home he said it was the worst thing ever!  He was also hungry and tired which may have had an impact on his reaction.  After getting food and resting he said he had fun but it was super hard and that the backpack was torture on his back and neck.  I really love this kids positivity (NOT)!  I am glad that he did try it because it is good for him!
